I’ve made it through 20% of my trip and am still feeling good about it. So far, its been pretty good, meeting people in some places and hanging out with them for a bit before moving onto the next place. It’s an interesting way of living, having all these short term relationships, where someone is your friend for a few days at a time and then you don’t see them again. Sometimes you catch them again in a later place, but that seems to be less common. Also, sometimes you don’t meet anyone and are stuck a little lonely for a few days. It’s an interesting experience, and I think the solo travel attracts a certain type of introvert, one who’s happy being alone in public and happy to have many short term relationships. It is quite fun still though.
It’s kinda odd opting out of the world for a while though. You sort of live in your own lane alongside everyone else doing the same thing while the world moves alongside you. At times it feels like you’re watching the world move along through a window. It’s quite the experience though, although we’ll see how I feel about it in a few months.
Otherwise, been around Argentina, went to Salta and drove around a bit, very pretty place. Then I went to the Atacama, where I was a little sick but still had a decent time in the driest heat. After went down to Bariloche, which is stunning and has some beautiful hikes. About to go over to Uruguay on the ferry from BA, maybe spend the two weeks until carnival there. Still looking like it should be a good time, and still enjoying myself.
